Jude
Jude
How do we contend for Jesus? There is a growing influence of atheism and the denial of God's existence. Among evangelicals there has been a loss of moral imperatives as the church abuses grace resulting in powerless living. Fathers and mothers don't know how to contend for Jesus in their own homes without leaning into moralism rather than grace. Reports say that the church is irrelevant and shrinking. Instead of preaching the Gospel many churches have taken to the legislative hall in an effort to transform hearts. Many Christians can't contend for Jesus because they don't know what Jesus is all about. Have you ever wondered how you can intelligently engage with your culture, friends, people that you love, and modern day issues? We exist in a period of time where we must contend for Jesus. In a short letter written to the first century church, Jude, the half-brother of Jesus makes an urgent plea – "Contend for Jesus! We're at war!" This tiny letter could just as well have been written today. Certain philosophies and ways of thinking have crept into the church and obscured the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In this series, we will take a few short weeks to see how we are called to contend for Jesus, what tools we have at our disposal, and why we must contend for Jesus.
